2018 – What a Year

2018 has been a very busy year for us at Alan R Jones, filled with new achievements, awards and memories.

So, what have we been doing over the past 12 months that have made this year such a success?

MBO

Our biggest development this year (so far!) came back in February, when Ray Clegg, accompanied by Gareth Hall and Michelle Goddard, completed a management buy-out of Alan R Jones & Sons.

The trio have worked passionately within the business for seven years, and following the retirement of brothers Ian and Peter the decision was made to take the reins of the business.

The team made every effort to ensure the transition went as smoothly as possible, while protecting the fantastic reputation built over the past 50 years.

Staff Training and Development

We’ve continued throughout the year to provide training to our team, specifically Driver CPC Training which is an ongoing practice here at ARJ.

A number of our drivers have been trained from Class 2 HGV up to Class 1, and we’ve also been working with a number of trainees who are currently completing their NVQs in logistics and warehousing.

Service Offerings

While still remaining proud members of the Palletline Network, we have also developed a slew of additional service offerings for our customers while working to improve our overall service levels.

We can now offer shipping container and air freight shipments to our clients, allowing for simple international trade arranged by our specialist Paul Conlon. Additionally, we have added to our warehousing capacities and door-to-door delivery service for goods on a worldwide scale.

Service Excellence

As previously highlighted in our recent blog post, we have remained regular recipients of the Palletline ‘Top Liner’ Service award, as a result of our consistently high levels of service and customer satisfaction.

Awards such as these might not seem a big deal, but we believe it gives our customers peace of mind knowing they can rely on us to deliver on our promise of service excellence.
